A Set of Louis XVI Cast Iron Fireplace Panels

A fine set of three antique Louis XVI style cast iron fireplace panels. The main central panel is decorated with a basket of flowers on a background of ivy, beneath ribbon tied swags of flowers, surrounded by a moulded border with floral paterae corners. The two side panels are decorated with trumpets and sheet music, hung on tasselled cords and ribbons with matching borders.

A large Royalist Wealdon style fire back

A very large, early 20th century, cast iron fireback modelled on the earliest dated Wealden design of 1641. Cast with the Royalist symbols of a lion passant surrounded by the Scottish Thistle, the English Rose and the French Fleur de Lys. Probably the most familiar of Wealdon firebacks and much reproduced in succeeding centuries.
English circa 1930.

Please note an old crack runs down the left hand side.

A Replica Carron Foundry Cast Iron Fireback

Stock: 14466

A replica cast iron fireback an exact copy of the one made by the Carron Foundry of Falkirk in Scotland, cast with a knight on horseback and inscribed "L D Fairfax Covnqvonror ". and identical to fireback SNo 14056. An illustration of this fireback can be seen on page 204 of Carron's 'Architects Catalogue' circa 1910, please see the 4th image below. English, late 20th century.

Notes: Fairfax was a commander in The New Model Army of England formed in 1645 by the Parliamentarians in the English Civil War, and was disbanded in 1660 after the Restoration.
