A large and fine pair of porcelain armorial lidded vases with meticulously hand painted molded and enamelled family crests and foliate decoration made by Edmé Samson (b Paris, 1810; d Paris, 1891), and were probably intended to be used as ginger jars. French, circa.1870.

Notes: Edmé Samson was the founder of the ceramics firm Samson, Edmé et Cie established in Paris in the 1840's. His Chinese style makers mark can been seen at the base.

A decorative antique carved and painted wood pediment, cornice or ornamental hanging, in the Baroque style, set within an ebonised carved and pierced scrollwork frame, with a central carved a gilded sunburst flanked by two phoenix, the mythical bird that rose from the ashes thus symbolising renewal.

Antique cast iron portrait roundel of Vasco da Gama(1460 - 1524), a Portuguese count and one of the world's greatest explorers being the first European to reach India by sea thus linking Europe and Asia for the first time by ocean via the Atlantic and the Indian oceans leading the way to the Orient.

A large and attractive polished copper repoussé roundel of the Arts & Crafts period. The central circular panels full of foliate motifs and birds, probably finches, within a stylised daisy held within beaded frame and with further finches amongst trailing foliage around the rim.

A small cast iron antique Coat of Arms of Bournemouth Borough Council whose large coastal resort lies on the south coast of Hampshire in England. The Arms were granted on 24th March 1891 and quarterly depict a Cross Flory between a Lion rampant holding a Rose between the paws in the first and fourth quar­ters, six Martlets in the second and four quarters and Salmon naiant in the third. The crest with a knights helmet beneath a wreath upon a mount depicting a tree and four emblematic roses.
The Motto 'Pulchritudeo et Salubritas' at the base translates as 'Beauty & Health' or 'Handsome is as Handsome does'.
English late 19th century.

A large antique cast iron convex roundel depicting a Bacchanalian rural scene of celebration. An angel holds a halo above the head of a women greeting a kneeling man and attended by Mercury and Cupid. The couple are surrounded by a throng with carousing figures, cherubs, horseback riders and mythological beings in the sky. A pair of caryatids bearing baskets of fruit upon their heads frame the scene.
French possibly late 19th century.

A very large Arts and Crafts aluminium Lion Rampant believed to have been part of an external wall decoration removed from the external wall of an Inn.
Scottish 1930s.

Notes: Casting of monuments and works of art in aluminium is a practice first used for Alfred Gilbert's statue of Eros, actually Anteros, the Greek God of Requited Love who was placed in the middle of Piccadilly Circus in London, in 1893. The gilded eagle over the US Embassy in Grosvenor Square by sculptor Theodor Rozac is in the same vein.

A rare walnut laminated aircraft two bladed propeller, the markings denoting that it was intended for the Isotta Francini 7 370 HP engine powering an early 1930's Italian Piaggio Seaplane. There was much cross licensing between aero engine and propeller manufactures and this one greatly resembles designs by Dr H.C.Watts of the Weybridge Airscrew Co of the 1930s. They made the two bladed propellers for the first Hurricanes and Spitfires, which during the course of WW II graduated to 3 and 4 bladed higher performance propellers made by ROTOL an alliance between Rolls Royce and Bristol aero companies. RINALDO PIAGGIO were a North Italian airframe construction Company founded in 1884, of considerable standing who specialised in marine aircraft until the factory was obliterated by allied aircraft in the 1940's. They resumed after the war producing the ubiquitous Vespa scooters and still produce mostly executive and airline feeder aircraft.

An attractive suite of 332 antique Victorian green and white floral tiles of varying size including the rose coloured edging tiles.They had been installed using lime mortar which enabled their safe removal as opposed to the more common use of Portland cement which would have made them almost impossible to remove.

A pair of oval Portrait Plaques of Mozart and Haydn. The low relief profiles of the 18c Classical Austrian Composers Amadeus Mozart and Joseph Haydn, in gilt and patinated cast iron ,both contained in frames seperate to the plaques, in the Rococo manner.
Stamped: Gesetzlich Geschuzt (patented) Lauchhammer, crossed hammers with crown , and serial numbers. Lauchammer , a German art and bell foundry near Dresden since 1725 .German circa 1880.
