A very fine richly carved large arched early Victorian chimneypiece in veined white statuary marble. The substantial moulded shelf is seated over the carved frieze moulding which is centred by a grand central cartouche carved in high relief and surrounded with foliate and scrolled decoration. Around the arched opening there is carved high relief ball and rope twist border with recessed spandrel panels flanked by fluted jamb pilasters. Image before restoration completed. English, early 19th century.
