Stock No: 11187
A smart French Louis XVI bow fronted marble fireplace. The neatly moulded shelf over the inset panelled frieze bordered by carved square floral paterae, supported on stop fluted jambs. The marble is pale, veined Giallo di Sienna marble.
Provenance:
Our information by repute is that this chimneypiece was removed for safety from a house in Buckingham Gate in central London at the outbreak of World War II, and installed by the owners in their other house in Chiswick, West London. It was probably carved in Italy either for a French client or directly for the English owner of the London house, no more details are available.
French/Italian early 19th century.
