A strikingly simple French portoro marble fireplace in the Empire style. The thick shelf is elevated over a stepped undershelf, and supported by plain endblocks which flank the blank frieze. This in turn is supported by moulded console jambs on simple footblocks, all in beautifully gold veined portoro marble.
