A large antique Jacobean style carved oak and ebony fireplace surround and overmantel. The strapwork barrel frieze is divided by well carved lion masks, mirrored on the endblocks, above the simple fluted pilaster jambs with dental capitals, supported on tall moulded footblocks. The original Yorkstone ingrounds have a graceful Tudor arch and deep mouldings to the opening. The upper fluted frieze on the overmantel is supported on a pair of carved ebony and oak caryatids, decorated with further lion masks, strapwork and carved fruit, flanking geometric panels with ebonized detailing on the dividing pilasters.
