Stock No.15231
An Edwardian, Arts and Crafts oak fire surround. The crenelated cornice, supported by a pair of turned columns, rests above a recessed frieze and mantle shelf. The frieze is set with five painted panels depicting Medieval York including the ‘bar’ or city walls, streets and gateways; the ruins of St Mary's Abbey and York Minster itself. A Tudor style arch frames the fireplace opening flanked by a pair of simple tapering columns on the jambs. English, circa 1910.
